Addressing the popular social media trend of using copper-wrapped dowels for plant growth, this study tested the efficacy of passive electroculture on various leafy and root vegetables. The research concluded that the low voltages generated by passive copper rods are insufficient to alter plant metabolism. While some growth was documented in turnips, it was attributed to the slow leaching of copper as a micronutrient rather than an electrical effect, suggesting the practice is largely ineffective for boosting yield.
